On August 13, Chugiak Fire & Rescue responded to a small plane crash at the Birchwood Airport. Small Aircraft Safety Tips

Different types of aircrafts have various boarding procedures-make sure you know in advance how to approach and leave the aircraft you will be taking. Remember safety doesn’t stop once you’re in the aircraft.  Without flight attendants, it’s up to you to understand the ins and outs of the aircraft your flying in.  Be sure to listen to your pilots briefing as well as follow all of their instructions.   Know how to quickly fasten your seatbelt and ensure any loose items are stowed away.  Don’t distract the pilot or interfere with the operation of the aircraft.  Remember, comfort and safety in the air is a partnership between you and the pilot.  Keep these tips in mind and you’ll be sure to have a safe and memorable trip.  Be informed.  Be prepared. And be safe.
