Pilot Killed in Crash at Birchwood Airport

By Hannah Raymond on August 18th, 2016 in Alaska, Local Accident Report, Personal Injury

On August 13, Chugiak Fire & Rescue responded to a small plane crash at the Birchwood Airport. Firefighters arrived within five minutes of being dispatched but the plane, laden with fuel was “fully engulfed.”  Officials initially reported that two persons were in the two-seat plane but that was incorrect.  The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.

Report taken from Webcenter11.com and Alaska Dispatch News.

Small Aircraft Safety Tips

Different types of aircrafts have various boarding procedures-make sure you know in advance how to approach and leave the aircraft you will be taking. Remember safety doesn’t stop once you’re in the aircraft.  Without flight attendants, it’s up to you to understand the ins and outs of the aircraft your flying in.  Be sure to listen to your pilots briefing as well as follow all of their instructions.   Know how to quickly fasten your seatbelt and ensure any loose items are stowed away.  Don’t distract the pilot or interfere with the operation of the aircraft.  Remember, comfort and safety in the air is a partnership between you and the pilot.  Keep these tips in mind and you’ll be sure to have a safe and memorable trip.  Be informed.  Be prepared. And be safe.

If you or someone you love has survived a plane crash or if you have a loved one who did not survive, you may be entitled to compensation for your pain and suffering, lost wages, medical expenses and emotional distress.  Contact the personal injury attorneys at Ringstad Law Office, P.C. to see how we can help.
