Woman Injured Attempting to Photograph Drunk Driver

By Hannah Raymond on August 18th, 2016 in Fairbanks, Local Accident Report, Personal Injury

On August 13, a North Pole Police officer observed a woman being dragged by a car with her arm still inside the driver’s side window.  The victim fell and the driver ran over her arm.  The victim reported to officers she was attempting to take photographs of the driver because the driver had thrown a Powerade at her vehicle, grabbed her phone and then drove away.  The driver was arrested and charged with assault, driving under the influence and endangering the welfare of a child.   A child was in the vehicle when the reported assault occurred.

Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately (REDDI)

Dangerous drivers risk death and injury not only to themselves, but to other innocent people both in their vehicle and in other vehicle on the road.  Reckless, intimidating aggressive behavior are some examples.  Drunk, drugged, fatigued driving are others.  This becomes a problem when the dangerous driver illustrates signs of worsening control, which can put the lives of other people at risk.

CALL 911 when you believe there is risk of death or injury due to dangerous driver behavior.   DO NOT CALL 911 for minor behaviors that do not appear to cause confusion or risk of death or injury.

Please stop at a safe place or have a passenger make the call, and report the vehicle along with its description and location.  Remember, the driver may be ill or intoxicated and shouldn’t be on the road.  State and local law enforcement agencies will respond as quickly as possible.

Please do your part to drive safely and encourage others to do the same.  Remember, the life you save may be your own.

Driving under the influence is against the law.  If you have been injured in a DUI-related accident, you deserve justice.  The personal injury attorneys at Ringstad Law Office, P.C. can fight for your rights to compensation.  Don’t wait to seek legal help.
