Two Killed in Three Vehicle Collision in Wasilla, Alaska

By Hannah Raymond on January 18th, 2017 in Alaska, Blog, Car Accident, Local Accident Report, Personal Injury

On January 6, Alaska State Troopers responded to a motor vehicle collision involving three vehicle at the intersection of Knik Goose Bay Road and Compass Drive.  Investigation revealed two vehicles were traveling away from Wasilla on KGB Road.  The front vehicle was attempting to turn left onto Compass drive when the following vehicle collided with the rear of the turning vehicle pushing it into the opposite lane of travel and into on-coming traffic.  A Dodge box truck heading toward Wasilla on KGB Road was unable to avoid a collision and collided with the vehicle on the side.  Both the passenger and driver of the vehicle died at the scene.  Both occupants were not wearing seatbelts. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision.

Report taken from Alaska State Troopers Dispatch.

Driving Safety Tip

Seat belts prevent the occupants from serious injury in five ways:

  • seat belts keep the occupants of the vehicle inside;
  • restrain the strongest parts of the body;
  • spreads out any force from the collision;
  • helps the body slow down; and
  • protects the brain and spinal cord.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) more than 15,000 lives are saved each year in the United States because drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts when they were in serious accidents.

Motorists are expected to use a reasonable amount of care on the road.  If you or a loved one has been injured or killed in a car accident due to someone else’s negligence you may be entitled to financial compensation for your injuries or other damages.  Contact the personal injury lawyers at Ringstad Law Office, P.C. today for answers to your questions.
