Two Injured in Single Vehicle Rollover

|

On August 19, Alaska State Troopers in Anchor Point, Ninilchik EMS and a Life Med helicopter responded to a single vehicle rollover on the Sterling Highway near mile 122. Troopers were informed that one of the vehicle’s occupants had been ejected and was lying in the roadway. Multiple witnesses at the scene reported the Ford pickup was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on the Sterling Highway in a construction zone and passing in no passing zones.  Witnesses stated the Ford attempted to pass three vehicles when it lost control on a gravel part of the roadway that was under construction.  The Ford fishtailed and the driver was unable to regain control.  The vehicle then went sideways and into the ditch were it rolled multiple times ejecting the passenger.  Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt.  The passenger was transported by helicopter to Anchorage for treatment of injuries.  The driver was transported to a hospital in Soldotna for treatment of minor injuries.  Troopers continue to investigate the crash.

Report taken from Alaska State Troopers Dispatch.

Road Construction Zone Safety Tips

Stay alert and give your full attention to the roadway.  Pay close attention to signs and work zone flaggers.  Keep your head lights on so workers and other drivers can see your vehicle.  DO NOT TAILGATE – leave plenty run for sudden stops.  DO NOT SPEED.  Expect the unexpected – workers, work vehicles or equipment may enter your lane without warning. Other vehicles may slow, stop or change lanes unexpectedly.

The road is a dangerous place.  If you or a loved one has been injured in a car crash, you should seek legal counsel.  Call the personal injury attorneys at Ringstad Law Office, P.C. to see how we can help you
