Seward Highway Accident

By Hannah Raymond on September 15th, 2016 in Alaska, Car Accident, Local Accident Report

On August 28, Alaska State Troopers responded to a motorcycle accident on the Seward Highway near Girdwood.  Investigation revealed the driver of a Volkswagon Passat failed to yield to northbound Seward Highway traffic when exiting a Tesoro gas station and was t-boned by a BMW motorcycle.  The driver and passengers in the Volkswagon reported no injuries but the motorcyclist was transported to Providence Hospital in Anchorage with non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the Volkswagon was cited for driving while license was revoked and failure to yield to another vehicle when entering an intersection.

Report taken from Alaska State Troopers Dispatch.

Motorcycle Safety Tips

Always wear a helmet!  A helmet is essential for safe riding. Ride defensively.  Do not assume you can be seen by drivers on the road.  Motorcycles are smaller than cars and you can easily slip into a drier’s blind spot.  Keep your lights on when riding and try to wear bright or reflective clothing.  When riding, do so defensively.  This means give yourself plenty of room to make turns and changes lanes, driving within the speed limit and assuming drivers won’t be able to see what you’re doing.

Motorcycles may be fun, but they are incredibly dangerous.  Unfortunately, other motorists often don’t see the, which puts them at a greater risk for accidents.

If you or someone you know has been injured on a motorcycle due to someone else’s negligence, please, seek the help you deserve.  Call the personal injury attorneys at Ringstad Law Office, P.C. today for representation.
