Semi Truck Collides with M11 Stryker Vehicle

By Hannah Raymond on July 25th, 2016 in Alaska, Car Accident, Local Accident Report

On July 18, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on the Richardson Highway near Meadows Road.  A semi-truck hauling fuel attempted to pass the slower moving Stryker vehicle when the driver of the Stryker initiated a turn onto Meadows Road.  The Stryker was partially in the oncoming lane when the semi-truck collided into the Stryker and subsequently went into the ditch and then into the trees.

Vehicle Passing Safety Tip

If you want to pass slower traffic, make sure that you check the road situation carefully.  Avoid passing other vehicles, including motorcycles and bicycles, on two-lane roads; it is dangerous.

Passing is illegal and unsafe when your line-of-sight is restricted or limited by a curve , hill, or weather conditions, cross-traffic is present, when there is a solid yellow line on your side of the roadway, or a school bus is loading or unloading children.

You must be constantly be aware of passing vehicles. Frequently check your mirrors, and if you see that someone behind you is intending to pass, it will be a good idea to move into a far right lane if possible.

Tractor trailers are massive vehicles that can cause serious damage to everyone involved.   The personal injury attorneys at Ringstad Law Office, P.C.  can represent you and fight for your rights to financial compensation for your injuries and other damages if you or a loved has been injured.  Contact us today.
