Roads Slick as More Snow Coats Roads

Fairbanks Police Department responded to about 20 accidents between Friday afternoon and Monday morning including 5 accidents along a stretch of Phillips Field Road, several on Airport Way, Johansen Expressway and the intersection of Steese Highway and Third Street. Snow over the weekends have covered the glossy, iced over intersections and side roads.

Brake gently, and when driving on slippery surfaces like ice or snow, use light pressure on the accelerator pedal when starting. If your wheels start to spin, le up and the accelerator until traction returns. Remember that bridges and overpasses can freeze before the roads do.
