On June 15, North Slope Borough Search and Rescue were notified of a capsized raft on the Kongakut River about 75 miles south of Kaktovik. Additional help was requested from the Alaska Rescue Coordination Center and the Alaska Air National Guard. The raft capsized after hitting some rapids and both occupants in this raft were thrown into the river. Other guests in the group were safely transported to shore and later rescued.
