Bicycle Riding Tips to Avoid A Collision

Wearing a helmet is always recommended but here are additional safety tips to help avoid collisions with motor vehicles.

  1. Get a headlight and taillight: If you’re riding at night you should absolutely use a front              headlight and red taillight. Even for daytime riding a bright white light that has flashing mode can make you more visible to motorists.
  2. Slow down: If you can’t make eye contact with drivers (especially at night) slow down so        that you are able to stop completely if you have to.
  3. Don’t ride against traffic: motorists aren’t expecting cyclist to be coming at them from the     wrong way and may not be able to see you until it’s too late.
  4. Wear something bright: Reflective vests and leg bands really make a difference for   motorists to see you.  High quality reflective gear makes you more visible even in the daytime,              not just at night.

Accidents caused by drunk drivers or those who are under the influence of alcohol or other drugs can be devastating.  Sadly, an accident like this one happens more often than it should.  If you or a loved one has been injured in a car accident where alcohol or drugs were a factor, contact the personal injury attorneys at Ringstad Law Office, P.C. to help you get the compensation you deserve.
