Driver Loses Control and Slides Down Embankment

|

On November 25, Alaska State Troopers responded to Mile 53.4 Seward Highway to reports of a single vehicle accident.  Investigation revealed the driver of a Dodge Durango headed north on the Seward Highway lost control on icy roads and the vehicle slid off the roadway coming to rest approximately 75 feet down the embankment where it struck two pine trees.  Three passengers were transported to Providence Seward Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.  All occupants of the vehicle were reported to be wearing seat belts or properly secured in child seats.

Report taken from Alaska State Troopers Dispatch.

Child Passenger Safety Tip

Using the correct car seat or booster seat can be a lifesaver.

Parents and caregivers can keep children safe by:

  • Knowing how to use car seats, booster seats, and seat belts
  • Using them on every trip, no matter how short
  • Setting a good example by always using a seat belt themselves

On average, four out of five seats are used incorrectly.  Many community agencies provide free car seat checkups to review whether your child is in an appropriate car seat; whether the car seat is properly secured in the car; whether your child is secured properly in the car seat; or if the car seat is on recall list or outdated.

The road is a dangerous place.  If you or a loved one has been injured in a car crash, you should seek legal counsel.  Call the personal injury attorneys at Ringstad Law Office, P.C. to see how we can help.
